This article by Laura Robinson Navy appeared in the "Dorchester News" on June 8, 1977. In addition to nicely summarizing the history of the island, Mrs. Navy's article gives a valuable snapshot of the culture of Taylors Island during the time period when she grew up. Personal articles like this one allow the reader to visualize life in a by-gone era. Without such written history knowledge of things such as dance pavilions on the bayside of the island might disappear forever as there are no known photographs of them. This article comes from the extensive collection of history preserved by John "Pat" Neild, Jr.
