Old Trinity Church, Taylors Island Volunteer Fire Department, and Grace Foundation of Taylors Island won for the Outstanding Project Award from the Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area for their work in organizing the Battle of the Ice Mound bicentennial event. Hundreds of people gathered on Taylors Island on February 7, 2015 to witness the bicentennial re-enactment of the Battle of the Ice Mound, the last battle of the War of 1812 fought on the Chesapeake.
